FAQS
What is Libertas Homeschool Collective?
Libertas is a Classical Christian homeschool co-op where families partner together to provide rich academics, community, and Christ-centered fellowship. We meet weekly for classes, discussions, and enrichment, while parents remain the primary educators.
What does 'Classical Christian Education' mean?
Classical education follows the Trivium—Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric—guiding students to acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking, and communicate truth winsomely. All subjects are taught from a biblical worldview with an emphasis on virtue and wisdom.
What Makes Libertas Homeschool Collective Classical?
At Libertas, we follow the time-tested model of Classical Christian Education, which seeks to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a love for truth in every student. We are classical in several distinct ways:
1. The Trivium Approach
We structure learning according to the classical stages of child development:
-
Grammar Stage (knowledge building) — focusing on memorization, facts, and foundational skills.
-
Logic Stage (understanding & reasoning) — training students to think critically, analyze arguments, and see connections.
-
Rhetoric Stage (wisdom & communication) — equipping students to express ideas persuasively and beautifully.
2. Rich Content Rooted in Western Tradition
We study great works of literature, history, philosophy, theology, and science that have stood the test of time. These materials help students engage with enduring ideas, rather than transient trends.
3. Integration of Subjects (Interdisciplinary Learning)
Subjects are not isolated but woven together. History informs literature; science reflects God’s design; writing develops reasoning. Students see truth as unified rather than fragmented.
4. Socratic Dialogue & Discussion
Rather than simply memorizing information, students learn through guided discussions, asking good questions, and engaging with ideas at a deep level.
5. Pursuit of Virtue
Classical education aims not just for intellectual development but for character formation. We train students to seek truth, goodness, and beauty — ultimately directing all knowledge to the glory of God.
6. Biblical Worldview
Every subject is taught through the lens of Scripture, acknowledging Christ as the Lord of all learning. True freedom ("Libertas") is found in knowing and following God’s truth.
